Our  Guest for this talk was Mr. Viveck Vaswani who is a famous actor, writer and producer. He is a really successful personality in bollywood as well as in life. He, is also someone whom we can call to be as the mentor to the one and only Shah Rukh Khan.

1.My Learnings Takeaways or Life Lessons from the Guest Talk-

  • “Its Your Life” and not of your parents’, brothers’, sisters, or your relatives’.

  • Have a big vision about your life and what you want to do.

  • Someone else’s opinions in deciding your path for life should not be your concern.

  • You should try to understand what exactly you want to do and it could be ANYTHING.

  • Make mistakes now and learn from them, before it’s too late  to make mistakes.

  • Let your passion translate into knowledge and always remember that “ Knowledge is bigger than Talent”.

2.How can I relate with the guest talk to the course ‘ Living Conversation’-

In the guest talk Mr. Viveck Vaswani talked about how important it is to express our knowledge to others , because when we are able to explain to others what’s our goal, we are fully aware of our motives. And that’s why communicating properly is a really important part of our life and that’s needed to be learnt properly. Our knowledge should translate into our personality and that is only possible when we have some good communication skills. This itself is being taught to us in our course Living Conversations in form of our weekly sessions and various activities we participate  into. Therefore,I find the guest talk and our course Living Conversations are completely relatable with each other.

3.What I liked most about the guest talk and why?-

What I liked most about the guest talk was that how candidly Mr. Viveck Vaswani interacted with us because most of the webinars which I have attended, I ended up getting exhausted and bored but, in this one I could not even realize how the 2 hours went by. This was only because of how warmly Viveck Sir shared his stories , experiences and stories of people he has met in life put infront of us, bringing himself  to the same ground we are standing on, regardless of how famous he is. It appeared as if someone who we know personally, is talking to us. That’s why I loved the guest talk very much. It was just a perfect combination of fun , learning and some awesome stories which can inspire us as we move forward to build a life for us which we have dreamt of!

Ms. Ishani Sawant, a young upcoming rock climber and mountaineer from Pune represented India at the International Youth Summit organised by UIAA (Apex International Rock Climbing and Mountaineering Federation) in Toulouse, France last month. Only 15 youth climbers from all over the world were selected by French Alpine Club for a week of “multi-pitch climbing” in Pyereness Mountain Range of France.

Breaking all gender stereotypes and leaving her career in law behind, Ishani is an adventure professional who trains cadets of the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA) in climbing, has several records on her name and hasn’t ever let anything or anyone stop her from reaching the top, quite literally. Currently she is conducting adventure events for blind and people with disabilities with Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation.

(i)My Learning Takeaways or Life Lessons from the Guest Talk-

  • It does not matter whether you are boy or girl, if you have determination and belief in yourself you can achieve anything in life. You can persue any career you want to , just have faith in yourself and be your own support when nobody else supports you.

  • There are many things you will have to hear about yourself , which will demotivate you and make you think whether you will be able to achieve anything or not, but never let those things overpower your self confidence.

  • When you decide to achieve what you want , when you decide to risk what you have, in order to get what you want, then remember you are making a decision for yourself and whatever may be the result , you will not regret later for not even opting to achieve it.

  • Just never give up , and you will have what you once wanted to have.

(ii)How can I relate the Guest Talk to the course ‘Living Conversations’ –

I totally relate this Guest Talk with our course ‘Living Conversations’ because the way she spoke about her journey in about one and half hours, covering everything important so efficiently , with so much grace, confidence and clarity and when she talked, it was visible in her voice and tone and also in her expressions that she was happy by what say was saying . And this is exactly what our course of Living conversations focuses to teach us, to talk in way that affects and inspires others in a positive way. Truly, Ishani Sawant Ma’am has set an example for this.

(iii)What I liked most about the Guest Talk-

The thing I liked most about the Guest Talk was that how Ishani Ma’am talked about each and everything with so much clarity. She never hesistated to talk about the tough part of her mountaineering journey where she had to face challenges like being descriminated because of being a girl and also about the expenses which were quite high for her when she started this journey. She talked in a way which felt like I am listening to my elder sister’s journey and not of a stranger. She not only talked about herself but also tried to help us students by telling us about courses and opportunities we can get if we were interested in mountaineering and this quite impressed me. In short , she tried to cover everything important in those one and half hours and I was really happy and surprised to see this.

(i)My Learning Takeaways or Life Lessons from the Guest Talk-

  • With everything around us changing and evolving, one thing should never change and that is ‘LEARNING’.

  • Learning in an elevated manner means learning after knowing what’s your purpose.

  • Understanding the importance of basic things and basic necessities in your life is most important, no matter how much rich you are.

  • The feeling you have when you try to bring a slight change in someone’s life is much above and much more than materialtic things.

  • We should try to team up with the people, our environment , find a purpose and contribute something to the planet, to our country. That’s why life skills are really important in one’s life.

(ii)How can I relate the Guest Talk to the course ‘Living Conversations’ –

I can completely relate this Guest talk with our course ‘Living Conversations’ because Sir, Sunil Rai talked about life skills and their importance in one’s life and that was the reason School Of Life was established this year in UPES so that the students not only have academic knowledge but also know about themselves, develop skills and new persepective towards things . And our course Living Conversations has been doing the same from the last 14 weeks . Thus, the Guest Talk also helped me to clear my vision about this subject and what it expects from us.

(iii)What I liked most about the Guest Talk-

There are multiple things which I liked about the Guest Talk. First being the friendly, kind and understanding nature of our honourable VC , Dr. Sunil Rai. He knows how to interact with students in a way that students understands better. He talked to students by keeping him on the same level as students while he talked, considering the position he holds.Secondly,I really liked  his thoughts about money ,that money is important but not more important than the basic things in our life and also our learning. Finally, I loved how he motivated us to try to become a change maker, a contributor and a be proud of what we are instead of comparing ourselves with others. This way, the Guest Talk was very inspiring and worth attending.
