Post session Activity:
Group Brainstorming Task -
Think and discuss a real life scenario a teenager might encounter due to varied communication styles.

How we communicate with one another has changed dramatically in the modern age. Today, we are using digital technology more and more to communicate with our friends, families and coworkers. Research shows that texting is the primary method of communication between teenagers, 12-17 years, proving to be more popular than face to face interactions.
Communicating via digital media may also mean that adolescents are missing out on learning effective communication skills that involve nonverbal communication such as interpreting facial expressions, using eye contact and appropriate tone of voice and volume, along with body posture and personal space. Positive social interaction relies on the ability to understand nonverbal social cues and adapt our behavior in response to others’ verbal and nonverbal reactions. The ability to effectively process emotional cues is linked to many positive outcomes and is critical in making and maintaining friendships, finding and holding down jobs, and doing well academically. Research suggests that increased opportunities for social interaction, along with less screen time, can enhance the understanding of nonverbal emotional cues. In this video, the students participate in a fun nonverbal activity which challenges them to communicate without words.

Self-Reflection Exercise –Guest Talk Event I.

Our Guest for this talk was Mr. Viveck Vaswani who is a famous actor, writer and producer. He is a really successful personality in bollywood as well as in life. He, is also someone whom we can call to be as the mentor to the one and only Shah Rukh Khan.
1.My Learnings Takeaways or Life Lessons from the Guest Talk-
-
“Its Your Life” and not of your parents’, brothers’, sisters, or your relatives’.
-
Have a big vision about your life and what you want to do.
-
Someone else’s opinions in deciding your path for life should not be your concern.
-
You should try to understand what exactly you want to do and it could be ANYTHING.
-
Make mistakes now and learn from them, before it’s too late to make mistakes.
-
Let your passion translate into knowledge and always remember that “ Knowledge is bigger than Talent”.
2.How can I relate with the guest talk to the course ‘ Living Conversation’-

In the guest talk Mr. Viveck Vaswani talked about how important it is to express our knowledge to others , because when we are able to explain to others what’s our goal, we are fully aware of our motives. And that’s why communicating properly is a really important part of our life and that’s needed to be learnt properly. Our knowledge should translate into our personality and that is only possible when we have some good communication skills. This itself is being taught to us in our course Living Conversations in form of our weekly sessions and various activities we participate into. Therefore,I find the guest talk and our course Living Conversations are completely relatable with each other.
3.What I liked most about the guest talk and why?-

What I liked most about the guest talk was that how candidly Mr. Viveck Vaswani interacted with us because most of the webinars which I have attended, I ended up getting exhausted and bored but, in this one I could not even realize how the 2 hours went by. This was only because of how warmly Viveck Sir shared his stories , experiences and stories of people he has met in life put infront of us, bringing himself to the same ground we are standing on, regardless of how famous he is. It appeared as if someone who we know personally, is talking to us. That’s why I loved the guest talk very much. It was just a perfect combination of fun , learning and some awesome stories which can inspire us as we move forward to build a life for us which we have dreamt of!

Self Reflections on Weekly Sessions Of Week 5

This week we learnt about the different communication styles that exist among people. Communication styles are the broad ways in which people tend to communicate with others. Meaningful connection is what life’s all about. When we get it right, it’s a game-changer. We have an intention when we speak. But our style, our patterns, and perceptions get in the way of the other person picking it up.So its really important to know about your communication style and also the communication style of the people you are interacting with on a daily basis .This can really help us to get better at buiding relationships and leaving in impact after each conversation.
